RUMOR “HAS IT” … THAT WE ARE NOW MISSIONARIES TO AUSTRALIA !!

Our first Sunday in the United States brought about quite a bit of confusion amongst the congregation of a church we were visiting in the state of Georgia.

You see, we didn’t have a church to present our ministry to and so we decided to visit a church in a suburb of Atlanta that our friends attend. We arrived on time for Sunday school and took our children to their Sunday school classes. Being their first Sunday in a situation that is not familiar to them, we were a little apprehensive of how our children would react to the new surroundings. We were really glad that by the end of the Sunday school hour no one called us to come and take care of one or more of them.

I was so glad to hear from Ruan’s Sunday school teachers that he behaved well. The teachers mentioned that his knowledge of the world was most interesting. They explained to me when they asked him where he lived, he confidently pointed to the map showing them Australia and the Philippines! I had a good chuckle about our five year olds’ understanding of geography.

After church we were on our way to our friends, Mr. & Mrs. Peterson, for lunch. Deon and I were talking about how much we enjoyed the Christian fellowship and the sermon preached that day. Deon mentioned to me that he was a bit confused as to why a few of the people had come up to him asking what kind of ministry we have in Australia.

I couldn’t stop laughing. Our son singled handedly confused many of the church leaders and members! I could never imagine that something like this could happen on our deputation travels. Needless to say we’re going to work on “world geography” with Ruan.

Please be assured we are not changing fields! We continue to encourage prayer and financial support so that we can return to South Africa and minister amongst the Afrikaans speaking people the Lord has burdened us to serve.

Life as missionaries is never dull especially if your child is a kindergartener that loves to talk!
