Living Out of a Suitcase
When I was a teenager I remember having the most interesting discussions with my girl friends at lunch time during school. One of the discussions that came up often was, who do you want to marry one day? Most of the girls focussed on wanting to marry men that would be able to provide for them with a great amount of money so that they could travel the world and enjoy life. When it came to my turn of sharing my thoughts on this topic I would answer by saying that I would like to marry a missionary. They looked at me with the expression of are you crazy he’s not going to be able to take you to see the world and enjoy the niceties of life, some even said that to me. Little did they know what missionary life can bring. The Lord takes you to many places and allows you to see His beautiful creation while being privileged to share the gospel with those you meet!
My desire to be a missionary came true and I find myself trusting and relying on the Lord more than ever. Not just because of the day by day faith you need to have in trusting the Lord for your provision but the taking on new roles as a wife to a missionary and mother to missionary kids. You would think I would have an advantage with having been an MK myself. No, not true! These roles are very different to being a kid on the mission field. My responsibility to my husband and children are greater than any of the MK experiences I had. 2015 is a year that we will be using to go on deputation, a year of uncertainty. A year that I know will be teaching us to further trust the Lord in every way imaginable. A year that will have our children relying on us in ways I’ve not even thought of before.
I’m thankful to the Lord for His promises that He gives to us for without them my family and I would not be able to be in the ministry for Him. Please be praying with us this year that the Lord would allow us to gain the 100% financially needed in order to return to South Africa and to gain the prayer support so essential for serving the Lord.
We are leaving South Africa in February to return to the United States and our schedule looks as follows:
February - Georgia and Alabama
March - South Carolina and North Carolina
April - West Virginia and Pennsylvania
May - New Jersey
Although this is a new adventure for us we trust the Lord with all that we’re doing. He has already provided for us in many ways. We are thankful to Him for His guidance in our lives and faithfulness to us. Please be praying for us as we begin a new year of deputation ministry!
