Multi-Lingual Church-Planting

OUR TEAM
We are privileged to be a part of a team that is concerned for people’s souls. The Multi-lingual Team is a team that is planting two churches in the Western Cape Province: Paarl Valley Baptist Church & Swartland Baptist Church.

We are a team made up of four church-planting couples, a director/pastor of camping ministries and his wife, a layman and his wife and a Church Ministries Institute student and his wife. All of us support each other through various ways: The men in preaching responsibilities and shepherding the flock, the woman in ladies and children’s ministries and our children assist their parents in their church-planting efforts in different ways depending on their age.

OUR PEOPLE
The people close to our hearts are those that specifically speak the Afrikaans and English language in the country of South Africa. We were excited to have been able to serve the Lord at Paarl Valley Baptist Church in Paarl this past Sunday. We always enjoy the opportunities of ministry at our sister church. I did my internship at this church and it was encouraging to see our old friends. We look forward to these times when we visit our sister churches so we can share how the Lord is blessing Swartland Baptiste Gemeente.

Swartland Baptiste Gemeente

Paarl Vallei Baptiste Gemeente is also a church that supports us financially as “Church-Planters”.  Most missionaries don’t have our unique situation: Deon, South African and Michelle, an American. Our deputation and support comes from both countries.

When we’re in South Africa, our services are conducted in both languages. If a pastor is preaching in Afrikaans on a given Sunday than the music is led in English and vice versa the following week. All the members on the team speak both languages so that we can speak in the language that the visitor or member in our church prefers. The Lord has equipped each of us with a different talent and together we are able to form a team ready to serve the Lord in any way that is called of us to do. We thank the Lord for the godly team He has placed us in.

Please keep us all in your prayers as we continue to strive towards serving the Lord faithfully in the Western Cape Province of South Africa and continuing to raise the balance of our support in both countries.
